Christian School Ministry

Happy Word of Life Christian School

This ministry began more than thirty years ago. It was originally  Happy Wisdom Kinder School. The children in early days were provided nourishment along with their education this was operated under the Bethesda Foundation,Inc. In 2015 our Pastor talked with us about closing the children’s school. We ask her to allow us to help. First we needed to get the school licensed through the Department of Education, second we needed to help financially with the needs of the school, including paying the licensed teachers. Our teachers work for a blessing each month which is nowhere close to what teachers make. They told us that of course they need pay but they do this because its ministry, sharing the love of Jesus Christ through education.

Building Project

As we began the journey to get licensed, we prayed about building classrooms for the school. In 2018 Rick and his team built four classrooms to accommodate the children’s school. These classrooms were built in the Children’s Church building and are also used on Sundays for Children’s Church. As we proceeded with licensure for the school the decision was also made to change the name of the school to Happy Word of Life Christian School. The vision of Pastor Elvie Go was that Christian education should be affordable for all including those that come from impoverished areas. We have seen this vision come to light. Today we still offer christian education at a very affordable rate. The school is self supporting and does not financially depend on the church, although they will always be a ministry of the church.  We also applied and received a non-profit license (SEC) for the school. In 2023 the Lord put it in our hearts to expand the school, after much prayer we began fund raising to expand the school through grade six. Soon to rise will be an elementary school building which will house  nursery through grade six! God is so faithful.

Higher Education

One need we recognized early in our ministry was the need for higher education among the children that lived in Happy House  & Happy Children’s Home. Education is a key to the future. After much prayer we began to seek education sponsors for these students. Through the years we have seen twenty five graduate from college, ten from Bible School and four attend private christian schools in the area. We only put children in private grade or high school if we feel they are at risk being in the public school setting. We currently have four students being sponsored. (2024). Our youngest and last child living in Happy House is currently attending college to become a nurse! We say she is our last but somehow we are sure that is not true.
