One Heart Journey is the ministry of Rick and Beth Hicks, an ordinary family following Jesus with an extraordinary calling. After years of short-term mission trips and service through Celebration Community Church in Florida, they answered God’s call in 2012 by selling their home and moving full-time to Ozamiz City, Philippines. There, God has given them a heart for orphans, widows, and the poorest of the poor. They are dedicated to bringing the love of Christ to those around them—meeting urgent physical needs, building lasting relationships, and opening the door to share the hope of the Gospel. The Hicks family’s mission is rooted in mercy, compassion, and the message that God is a Father to the fatherless and a healer to the brokenhearted.

What kind of world awaits our children if at home looms the cruelty of child abuse, malnutrition, incestuous rapes, and poverty that takes every bit of decency from a human life. We believe that mercy and love are crucial in letting the world know that God is the father to the fatherless. That is why we are dedicated to bringing the love of Christ to those around us and reaching the community in meaningful and lasting ways. Through addressing the immediate physical needs of an individual, we can then focus on their spiritual needs-sharing the Gospel and transforming their life with the Good news.

How Our Tweens Raised $900 to Feed Families

In early December, our Tweens Ministry put together something truly special—a Christmas concert designed to give back. These amazing kids set a goal to help 100 families in the community enjoy a warm meal during the Christmas season. The concert was completely free to attend, but our Tweens invited the audience to give as they felt led. By the end of the night, they had raised over $900! School Update and the Heart Behind Phase 2

Praise God—Phase 1 of the school is complete! We are waiting on the building’s sign to be delivered and finishing a few minor details, but the foundation is here. And what a joy it is to see it all come together. Loving Families Through RICE491

January began with an overnight prayer meeting at Happy Church, from 8PM to 5AM, where every ministry was represented. We continue to seek the Lord for His guidance and wisdom as we move forward in His work in 2025. What a beautiful night it was. We were also blessed to have friends from the US visit for two weeks. It’s always a joy to have people walk alongside us here. They bring new ideas, encouragement, and plenty of hugs. It was truly a refreshing time.
